American Art

If you think about the great American cities, vacation, Orlando, New York, Las Vegas or San Diego might come to mind. But what about Bend, Oregon? In contrast to the previously mentioned cities, said: "I will visit once in Bend," is likely to give you a quizzical look, as if to say: "Where Bend the hell is? A Short History

Founded only a century ago in 1905, a community of 300 residents, Bend was originally a crossing point on the Deschutes River, where its economic beginning as a logging town. Its name comes from "Farewell Bend," the name used by early pioneers to the ground in the Deschutes River, where it is shallow enough to indicate on horseback crossable. After a development period was established businesses, a community began to form.

Modern Tourism Day

Today's Bend as a gateway for access to many outdoor activities, mountain biking, hiking and camping are, fishing, rafting and climbing, to name just to name a few.

Although Bend still relies in part on the roots of logging, manufacture of wood products, tourism is one of the largest sectors. The local ski area brings tourists from all over the west coast. Other tourist attractions are assuming a known micro-brewery, the Cascade Lakes (a great Viewing experience of the Three Sisters volcanoes), and Bend Film Festival.

The local ski area is one of the most profitable tourist destinations in the city, support businesses to help tourism accommodation establishments is a very large part of the economy Bend and to a large extent responsible for the success of the city.
