The ADHD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a disease which is a psychological disorder. Abnormal symptoms of hyperactivity and attention
About 3 to 5 percent of children suffer from ADHD. ADHD is found at a higher rate in men than in women in their childhood. Sometimes ADHD may continue even to adulthood. It is found in even number of adults. In adults the main causes of ADHD depression, hot temperedness are frightened and disturbed lifestyle.
With advanced studies and research in the field of medicine has progressed in leaps and bounds. It has come up with cures for most diseases. Research of these medicines continues. But should all the drugs really fulfill their role on the diseases or other area in turn throw healing problems. This could be the Problem with the drug Ritalin prescribed on the disease Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD combined.
It is followed by a special pattern, that the doctors today, that also fills in the questionnaire of children and also the advice of parents is required. In order to avoid misdiagnosis of ADHD, a detailed study, is to know as necessary if and only if the problem persists for years or it is a temporary change behavior.
Not much research has been in done this area, but there are two main types of treatment that is commonly used to cure the ADHD types of treatment for ADHD, pharmacological and non-pharmacological. Normally these days, the psychologist writes the psycho stimulants like Ritalin. Concereta with some non-stimulant drugs such as amphetamines and Terra Star as Dexedrine and
Adderall.
What is the latest research on ADHD?
There is not much research has been in this area so there are not many options for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder done. The scientists and psychologists are not very sure that the causes of this disease. There are also many side effects of ADHD medications. It is necessary to the alternative To find drugs and medications.
The research is done on the behavioral patterns of different persons having the disease in different age groups. In another research, it is noted that the rising cases of this disease in all age groups. It is noted that this disease is more common in boys than Girls compared.
What is the meaning of ADHD research?
The research suggests may help to provide an alternative method of treatment, The symptoms usually clear with the child suffers from ADHD to reduce associated.
The research in this area is in its early stages. There is much to do to cure this disease successfully. Because of these new drugs coming examinations and also because these studies the behavior patterns of people suffering from this disease is to be discovered and also the dietary habits is important to be discovered.

Psychometric Foundations and Behavioral Assessment $49.48 Can traditional assessment (the psychometric approach) and behavioral assessment be effectively integrated in research as well as in practice? Can this integration improve the quality of the information collected from various instruments, strengthen the validity of interpretations, and improve reliability? Through a detailed, systematic, and critical review of both literatures, Silva shows how an integration of psychometric principles with the standards in behavioral assessment can result in an affirmative answer to these issues. Beginning with a review of the origins of behavioral assessment through the current practices, Silva explores such issues as the arguments for and against the integration of psychometric standards, the possibility of a normative interpretation of behavioral assessment data including an individual differences focus that is not at odds with an N=1 approach, and how the recent advancements in the psychometric approach to reliability and validity can enhance quality and utilization in behavioral assessment. "Fernando Silva's book adds a large and important contribution to the work of those of us interested in unifying behavioral assessment and psychological measurement." --Arthur W. Staats, University of Hawaii at Manoa "This is an important book. It fills, with great distinction, a need that has long existed in the assessment literature. (Silva) provides a detailed, balanced, and comprehensive review of the philosophical rationale of assessment from the behavioral perspective. And along with this he offers an extremely lucid and up-to-date account of the more expert thinking on psychometric methodologies. In particular, Silva's discussion of construct validity, especially in its relation to scientific method, is exemplary. "It is important to note, too, that Silva does more than merely review the current scene; on the contrary, he presents strong, clear, and well-reasoned conclusions, all of which seem to me highly compelling. "It would be a serious mistake for prospective readers to consider this book meaningful only for workers in behavioral assessment. In fact, the book is relevant to the entire field of assessment, not only because behavioral assessment, is, after all, a part of that broader scope, but also because the book contains an excellent, very readable summary of newer advances in psychometrics. In brief, this volume is a major contribution to the assessment literature." --from the Foreword by Paul McReynolds "The status of behavioral assessment within the larger framework of the psychometric tradition in psychology is surrounded by issues of substantial practical and conceptual importance that merit the thoughtful and detailed analysis provided by Professor Silva. This book should be required reading for all students in graduate assessment courses and will be of considerable interest to both behavioral and 'traditional' scholars and practitioners." --... |

Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research $126.98 Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research publishes quality articles encompassing all areas of accounting that incorporate theory from and contribute knowledge and understanding to the fields of applied psychology, sociology, management science, and economics. The series promotes research that investigates behavioral accounting issues. Volume 10 exemplifies the different types of behavioral investigations that are conducted in accounting. It contains two studies that provide insight into the current, technology based audit environmentan experimental markets study examining the need for continuous auditing and a case study examining electronic audit workpaper systems used in audit practice. This volume also contains two financial accounting studies---one examines the differences in individual investment decisions when software costs are capitalized versus expensed and the other utilizes a survey methodology to examine the ethical implications of various financial decisions. The next article in this volume examines how cognitive style affects search strategies and influences decisions of different decision makers. In addition, two of the articles focus on managerial issues. One examines the role of stress and burnout on job satisfaction, performance, and turnover; and another examines fairness and trust in a governmental accounting context. The last study in this volume develops a research tool for evaluating the information content in the management discussion and analysis contained within the annual report. This tool should provide useful to a wide range of researcher, not just those interested in examining behavioral issues. These articles are both interesting and insightful and should prove useful in facilitating future behavioral research.Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research is now available online at ScienceDirect full-text online from volume 3 onwards. |

Research Projects and Research Proposals $27.48 Paul Chapin's guide to writing proposals for scientific research can be used by scientists in any discipline who submit papers to funding agencies to gain support for their research projects. A longtime program officer at the National Science Foundation, Chapin treats the proposal as one part of a larger process of planning a research project, which makes it easier to write and more likely to be effective. The book differs from other guides by treating proposal writing in the larger context of project planning from an insider's perspective. Paul G. Chapin became the first director of the NSF Linguistics Program when it was established in October 1975. He continued as NSF's Program Director for Linguistics until 1999, with three interruptions: one year serving as Deputy Division Director for Behavioral and Neural Sciences, one year's detail as a staff associate to the head of the Office of Information Systems, and a year's sabbatical leave to study mathematics at George Washington University. From 1999 until his retirement in 2001, Chapin served as a senior program officer for cross-disciplinary activities at the NSF. On the occasion of his retirement, the NSF presented him with the Director's Superior Accomplishment Award, and the Linguistic Society of America awarded him the first annual Victoria A. Fromkin Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession. |

Dorsey's work is followed by major investors and the financial media seeks his macroeconomic perspective that is more than six months ahead of the crowd. For the first time, Woody Dorsey shows how his technique makes behavioral economics practical, accessible and understandable. He has developed his unique insights from his research of financial market probabilities during the past twenty years. Paul $27.98 For someone who has exercised such a profound influence on Christian theology, Paul remains a shadowy figure behind the barrier of his complicated and difficult biblical letters. Debates about his meaning have deflected attention from his personality, yet his personality is an important key to understanding his theological ideas. This book redresses the balance. Jerome Murphy-O'Connor's disciplined imagination, nourished by a lifetime of research, shapes numerous textual, historical, and archaeological details into a colourful and enjoyable story of which Paul is the flawed but undefeated hero. This chronological narrative offers new insights into Paul's intellectual, emotional, and religious development and puts his travels, mission, and theological ideas into a plausible biographical context. As he changes from an assimilated Jewish teenager in Tarsus to a competitive Pharisee in Jerusalem and then to a driven missionary of Christ, the sometimes contradictory components of Paul's complex personality emerge from the way he interacts with people and problems. His theology was forged in dialogue and becomes more intelligible as our appreciation of his person deepens. In Jerome Murphy-O'Connor's engaging biography, the Apostle comes to life as a complex, intensely human individual. |

The Benefits of Behavioral Research to the Fire Service $26.48 Previously, Fire Safety Engineers worked under a simple assumption that when a fire alarm activated, people will evacuation immediately. It was believed that how quickly people managed to evacuate a building depended mainly on physical abilities as well as the location of the nearest exit and the behavior of the fire. But work by Behavioral Scientists has found that this idea falls considerably short. Research now shows that as much as two thirds of the time it takes occupants to exit a building after the fire alarm sounds is startup time or time spent milling about and looking for more information. Ultimately, such a finding has big implications for architects, engineers and fire protection specialists hoping to design safer buildings. Subsequently, after the 9/11 terrorists attack this new way of thinking based on Human Behavior in Fire and Emergencies is getting more attention and funding. Studying how occupants react as events unfolded and finding out what helped or hindered the evacuation efforts during the 9/11 attacks has provided invaluable information for future building designs. Ultimately, it is the author of this book believes that this is going to impact structured emergency preparedness in a major way. The basic premise of this book is that design should be human-centered because it humancentered design that provides for the information that people need to adapt to the chaotic and uncertain way that fire develops. |
